District Report Card

March 28, 2005

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Enclosed please find the third annual report card for your child’s school. School districts are required to issue this report to all parents and guardians in accordance with the regulations of the federal law No Child Left Behind. The data for the third annual report card was based on student test score performance on the Spring 2004 Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS).

This report card provides parents and guardians with information about their child’s school. A second report, available in the office of the Superintendent, provides information about the district wide performance of our students and compares our performance as a district with student performance on a State level.

The report card information is divided into three sections. Section one includes the school contact information, the overview of the report and the mission statement of the school. Section one also outlines the characteristics of our student enrollment and pertinent teacher data.

Section two recaps student performance in the tested subjects. This performance is reported across the four rating categories. These categories include advanced, proficient, needs improvement and warning/failure. The report details student progress by gender, ethnic group and selected populations. The third section of the report card outlines the progress of the school district in meeting the Annual Yearly Progress standards set by the State in conformance with the No Child Left Behind Act.

The results of the Annual Yearly Progress Report indicate that we have met our annual yearly progress in all areas except for special education. We will continue to work hard to meet the educational needs of all students and it will continue in our effort to meet the identified educational needs of students serviced through our special education program.

District report cards and the report cards for all Tewksbury Schools can be obtained by contacting the office of the Superintendent of Schools at 139 Pleasant Street 978-640-7800 or logging on to the Tewksbury Public School Website at www.tewksbury.mec.edu.

Sincerely,

Christine L. McGrath, Ph.D
Superintendent of Schools
