PAC Meeting: May 7th

- Discussed playground and
allocating money for fixing the drainage. We discussed sharing this
expenditure with extended day since they will also benefit from the north
street play area being fixed since they use it all summer.
- Scholarships are given to
graduates who attended North Street School. 2 scholarships to Tewksbury
high school students and one to Shaw sheen tech student. $250 to each
student. They must complete 1st
semester of college and then pass in their report card at the end of the
first semester -$ will be given then.
The PAC chose the students- looked for community service and good
grades. The students have been notified and certificates given to them.
- There will be open positions
for next year-Nancy Cappiello will not longer be with us since she’ll have
no more children in North Street. The PAC is looking to have a 3rd
co-chair. Also fund raising position/4th grade committee needs
to be filled.
- Fund raising- Genevieve fund
raising dropped off some wrapping paper as an incentive for us to go with
them for next year. Also discussed next year doing spinner game for fund
raising- has been very successful for Dewing school. Need to start that in
Jan/Feb next year... we also want to continue doing Script gift cards,
family dine out night. Wendy’s will give a school a certain night for a
whole month. Discussed possibility having a Fall family restaurant night a
week before school begins. Also discussed possible “GOT BOOKS” fundraiser.
- Talent show brought in
$1,524/square art made $1,300.
- Patriotic Play is June 5th
at 10AM 3rd and 4th graders re-enacting battle of Lexington, Ms
Meharg coordinating with Dave Marcus.
Voted to allocate $ for the play
- Barbara Lawton suggested that
the PAC should communicate better to parents about amount of $ they are
making on fundraisers and how spent. Feels there is a lack of
communication in this area and should have documentation and distribute to
North Street community. Should also have a board in the front entrance to
show the different activities that the school is involved in. Suggested getting rid of chalk board
and putting bulletin board to show what was done.

with librarian to pass out summer reading need volunteers to help

Mrs. Kimble discussed school improvement goals- AYP; improving
technology, smart boards. character education- “open circle” teaching
parent/teachers/students- Miss Finn-school psychologist would be involved- 5 yr
program.
