PreSchool Lottery

Spring 2008

Dear Parent/Guardian:

As you know, the Tewksbury Public Schools is able to provide a pre-school experience for a limited number of youngsters who are three and four years old. Days/times/sessions have not been scheduled at this time. For 2007-2008 there is a monthly tuition rate of $75 for a 2 day a week program and a $115 a month rate for a 3 day a week program. Tuition rates for the 2008-2009 school year will be established by the Tewksbury School Committee later in the Spring.

The Tewksbury Integrated PreSchool Program is a Special Education Program for three and four year old children who are enrolled on the basis of an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). A balanced number of typically developing three and four year olds also participate in this program. Any child who has met the criteria for Special Education and has, or will have, an IEP is not eligible for the lottery.

The Child Development Program at Tewksbury Memorial High School enrolls typically developing four-year old children only.

Because a far greater number of parents have expressed interest in having their children attend these programs, a lottery will be held with the names of all eligible children to determine who will participate. In order to provide a pre-school opportunity to the greatest number of Tewksbury children, youngsters will participate in one year only and, once enrolled, will not be eligible for future drawings. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parent.

Due to the large number of working parents who are not able to attend, parental attendance is not necessary or required. This lottery will take place in early April.

Parents will be notified by telephone and asked to select their program preference. Please make certain we have your current work number and be prepared to state your preference at the time you are called. Parents will also be notified by mail regarding enrollment confirmation as well as waiting list status.

Please call the Special Education Coordinator’s Office at 640-7837 to register your child. Your child must be three years of age by August 31, 2008. Deadline for registration is on Friday, March 28, 2008.
